Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Op. 56 "Scottish"

Peter Maag (2024 Remastered, London 1960)

1 disc(s) - 4 track(s)
Total length: 00:38:16

Peter Maag, an almost forgotten conductor but well-known to audiophiles, recorded the best studio version ever made of Mendelssohn's Scottish Symphony.

Incredibly dramatic, delightfully tormented, with a breath and epic tension, the power that emanates from his interpretation makes it a standard against which all other versions must be judged, whether excellent, good, acceptable, or poor.

This carefully remastered edition restores brilliance to a beautifully engineered recording by the Decca engineers of the time, it must be said: the golden age!

Enjoy your listening
