Chopin: The Piano Recital

Vlado Perlemuter (2025 Remastered, Paris 1960)

1 disc(s) - 7 track(s)
Total length: 00:49:12

Of Polish origin, Vladislas Perlemuter was born in Kaunas (formerly Kowno, Lithuania) on May 26, 1904. At the age of eight, he began studying the piano with his father, who was a cantor. He then studied with Moritz Moszkowski. In 1917, when his family emigrated to Paris, he entered the Conservatoire in Alfred Cortot's class. Two years later, having won a first prize, he began giving his first recitals.

A sensitive and modest pianist with a discreet yet exemplary career, he excelled in Chopin thanks to his sense of structure, absolute control of tempos, and the perfection of his touch. This magnificent recital, available on vinyl, suffered from overly filtered reissues. This remastering, which did not seek to erase all imperfections, restores Perlemuter's almost miraculous touch to its original flavor. The Berceuse, one of the most beautiful we have ever heard, could be a synthesis of his art on its own.
