Classical Music for two Guitars

Ida Presti & Alexandre Lagoya (2024 Remastered, Studio 1962-1967)

3 disc(s) - 41 track(s)

Total length: 02:55:28

The legendary Presti/Lagoya duo recalls what the Vronsky/Babin duo represented for the piano. To their exceptional musical unity, we wish to apply this biblical citation: "A man shall (...) cling to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." The Hebrew expression "one flesh" can also be rendered as "one body" or "one person," which perfectly reflects the impression these recordings leave on the listener. It is no coincidence that Alexandre Lagoya and Ida Presti, husband and wife in life, united as well in the service of art.

It was high time for leading artists to restore the guitar’s noble standing. Beethoven reportedly described the guitar as "a miniature orchestra," and he might well have said so if he had heard this duo.

The remastered edition brings undeniable presence and warmth to this anthology, which has stood as the definitive version for decades.
