The uniqueness of these recordings lies in bringing together two musicians who restored their instruments to their former glory and secured an important place for them in the repertoire alongside more prominent instruments like the piano or violin.

Lily Laskine was nicknamed the "grande dame of the harp" because she truly dominated the life of the instrument for more than three-quarters of a century. Laskine did not limit herself to her role as an orchestral musician but embarked on a solo career. In doing so, she sparked renewed interest in the harp and revived a portion of the repertoire that had been forgotten. Thanks to her, the harp emerged from its role as a parlor instrument, where it had remained confined in the 19th century, to become a full-fledged solo instrument.

Considered by many to be the greatest flutist of the 20th century, Jean-Pierre Rampal not only elevated the art of his instrument to unprecedented heights but also, continuing the work of Paul Taffanel (1844-1908), Philippe Gaubert (1879-1941), and Marcel Moyse (1889-1984), founders of the French school of flute, contributed significantly to establishing the flute as a solo instrument, lifting it from the anonymity of the orchestra where it had languished for two centuries.
