Richard Strauss + Eugen Jochum + Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra = the perfect combination. Sometimes people ask, "Why always the old performers, as if the new performers are nothing?" To put things in perspective and solely to illustrate our point strongly, Jesus-Christ chose apostles who were close to him and became his intimates, and it is worth noting that three of them wrote the Gospels, while the fourth consulted these same men to obtain reliable information. Are there people better suited for this work? It would be disingenuous to say otherwise, especially after reading these books.
