Sviatoslav Richter continually transports us into what we might call "the Schumanian dream". He knows how to combine poetry and technical perfection like no one else. With him, everything is ardently meditated, seriously approached and perfectly mastered.

Some might protest that this "restraint of the mind" is even a bit too pronounced and feel uneasy with the tempos sometimes adopted, but no matter... Sviatoslav Richter possesses such intelligence that his approach, however original, always transforms into pure art. This art is all the more impressive as a significant part of this anthology comprises live recordings.

Sviatoslav Richter is above all a concert pianist, and his interactions with the audience have always been unforgettable moments for listeners, as evidenced by Glenn Gould's famous speech commenting on Richter's interpretation of Schubert's G Major Sonata.
